Ah, Maiden…my all-time favorite group. Except for local groups I’ve seen in clubs, I’ve seen Maiden more times than any other band. Besides just being my favorite group they are also absolutely one of the best live bands. Bruce Dickinson is the ultimate front man, stage presence out the wazoo. Same goes for the rest of them. As individual players, you just can’t get better than Dickinson, Steve Harris, Nicko McBrain, Dave Murray & Adrian Smith. Definitely having Adrian Smith back in the group makes them even better. I was never able to see the ‘classic’ lineup when it originally existed, but now that it’s those 5 guys plus Janick Gers (who is a sort of average guitarist, but definitely plays the clown on stage) it’s more or less the same thing. I’ve always enjoyed seeing the Maiden shows, even without Adrian and Bruce. I saw 3 shows when Blaze Bayley was vocalist and even though he’s ultra-horrible, the rest of the band was still great. Steve Harris just has absolute MONSTER bass tone. Knocks me down! I’ve had such a good time at all the shows I’ve seen by these guys and I’ll always go see them whenever I have the chance. I never miss it.
