So, yesterday it finally came. The first season of the Muppet Show on DVD. I first got wind of this possibly a year ago. Something like that. Regarless of *when* it happened, I was so excited that this wonderful piece of my childhood was going to be available. Yeah, I know, there have been some episodes released on VHS and DVD, but never the full thing. So, yesterday was finally the day. I went against supporting my company and bought it elsewhere. Know why? Because even with my discount at B&N, I can still find it cheaper if I go to just about any other place during that first week after release. I spend enough money at work as it is, so I’m not bankrupting the company by getting the DVD elsewhere.
Once I got home last night, ate dinner and cleaned up it was time. It was time to play the music, it was time to light the lights.
OK, I still LOVE that opening for the show. Oh it gave me the biggest smile. To be “proper” Julie and I decided to watch the original Pitch Reel first (SO FUNNY!) and then the pilot episode (called “Sex and Violence”), which was pretty good, and then we moved on to the first episode. It’s funny that a lot of the guest stars on this first season I have no idea who they are. Their names don’t even sound familiar. Then again, was I even two at the time it originally aired? I still think the Mahna Mahna skit (and song) is one of the funniest things ever.
On Monday night Julie and I had been listening to the Muppet 25th Anniversay CD which came out a few years ago. I still prefer the soundtrack for the Muppet Movie itself, but the 25th Anniv. CD is great since it features songs from the TV show and all the movies. We had a great time dancing around and singing the songs on Monday and then laughing again at this great show last night. Tonight? More Muppet watching.
Let’s go out to dinner and see the Muppets…
